Bad Banks – Season 1

Jana Liekam (Paula Beer), a highly talented young investment banker, works at Crédit International, a major international bank based in Luxembourg. But not for long: The bank’s Head of Investment, Christelle Leblanc (Désirée Nosbusch), causes Jana to be fired under a pretext. But she is given the chance to go to Frankfurt to work for Deutsche Invest and its local Head of Investment, Gabriel Fenger (Barry Atsma). From one day to the next, Jana has to decide not only to give up her job but also leave her boyfriend and his 5-year-old daughter behind. Jana initially doesn’t realise that Leblanc is pulling the strings behind the scenes and doing everything to use Jana for her own secret plans. She even gives her a tip-off for a highly attractive deal. Jana manages to land the deal and impress her new boss among others. Fenger is fascinated by the young banker’s passion and ambition to succeed. Jana is put in charge of the team – something not everyone is pleased about – and Fenger and Jana soon establish a special relationship. But now Jana is indebted to Leblanc and expected to deliver something in return…
