Miriam is staying with her friend Ida for a few months and during that time goes to Winterstein School with her. She knows nothing about the magical community. But on her very first day, Mr. Morrison gives the class two new magical creatures: Max gets the owl Muriel, and to Miriam’s great surprise, she gets the energetic lemur Fitzgeraldo. Muriel quickly realizes that Max might have feelings for his best friend Leonie that he doesn’t even recognize himself. Miriam confides in Fitzgeraldo that she was an outsider at her old school. Then, by chance, Ida finds out that Winterstein School is going to be closed. In the upcoming school challenge, Ida and her class recognize their last chance to save the school and, with it, the magical community. To her horror, Miriam discovers that her old school is also taking part in the competition—with none other than her former classmate Torben (Philip Müller). Pressured by her old classmates, Miriam finds herself caught in the crossfire. Can Winterstein School win the school challenge? And can the class thereby prevent the school’s closure?
